ABOUT OUR FACILITY
Professional Local Horse Farm
Summer Valley Equestrian Center is owned and managed by Joe Hairfield. With over 40 years of horse experience, Joe is extremely knowledgeable in horse nutrition, wound care, and all things horse! We value and get to know each equine on our property so that we can provide the most customized experience possible for our boarders. We offer a covered ring with lights, miles of trails, lush, rolling pastures, and a fabulous riding community among our boarders. There is something for everyone at Summer Valley, so come visit us and find your new home away from home!
OUR INSTRUCTOR
Nora Wilson
EXPERIENCE
Nora has been riding horses for over 20 years. She focused on establishing a strong foundation in hunter and equitation for her first 10 years of riding, and her last 10 she has shifted her focus to eventing. She has competed through the novice level at both local and rated horse trials.
PHILOSOPHY
Nora teaches English riding. While she focuses on eventing, she also coaches riders in jumpers, equitation, and basic dressage. She believes in the creation of a strong foundation by learning to ride with light hands, a balanced seat, and meeting the horse where they are. Nora helps her students learn that riding correctly cannot be rushed and that there is more beauty in the journey than simply hurrying to a destination.
PERSONAL HORSES
Nora has owned Ashley, a gray, Arabian/Welsh cross mare, for nearly 15 years. Ashley taught her to ride with determination and reminded her to always expect the unexpected. Despite being 26, Ashley is still competing at the lower levels with riding students and enjoys being in front of a crowd and showing off!

Nora has owned Kizzy, a bay, Off Track Thoroughbred mare, for 4 years. Kizzy has taught her to ride with softness and to remain relaxed and present while riding, and to trust the process. While a nearly career ending injury tried to slow her down, Kizzy is back better (and sassier) than ever, and is ready to reenter the show ring this fall!

OUR STAFF
Melanie Huey
Melanie has been Joe's right hand employee for 7 years. She takes excellent pride in providing the pinnacle of horse care, and as an added bonus, has completed an apprenticeship with a local farrier! So, whether you need to know how your horse was that morning or a shoe tacked back on before a show, Melanie is your girl!
SERVICES
STALL BOARD
$450 per month
Stall board includes:

-Feed twice daily
-Daily hay
-Daily stall cleaning
-Blanketing (once daily, as weather warrants)

PASTURE BOARD
$275Â per month
Pasture board includes:
​
-Feed twice daily
-Hay in the winter
-Run in shed
-Large pasture with creek and additional natural shade from surrounding woods
-Large water trough checked daily
LESSONS
$25-$35
We are proud to offer an incredible lesson special for our boarders! Lessons start at $25. Please note, the price listed above is specific to individuals who board or lease horses at Summer Valley Equestrian Center.
